About

Bill Hoatson

Bill Hoatson is the founder of childachievement.com. It is a big step toward the realization of a life long dream for him, which is to help fix what is broken in today's education system wherever he can. He brings a wealth of experience to his lectures and books. Thirty years of experience teaching regular and exceptional education at all grade levels in economically struggling communities has forged his unique brand of success-oriented teaching. This information is invaluable for teachers, parents, and students alike.

The catalyst for his first book, "Professor Johnson Unhinged: Lectures on Teaching, Parenting, and Positive Discipline" was his eight month stint as acting discipline coordinator for the Gadsden County, Fl school system in which he found himself in a courtroom weekly, school records in hand, watching what he regarded as his children being sentenced to jail.

Mr. Hoatson firmly believes that every child has a success destiny, and has dedicated his life to ensuring that children have a chance to realize their goals. He brings a large sense of humor to whatever he does. "Professor Johnson Unhinged" is infused with it. So is his play "Mr. Harrison's Classroom: A Documentary," which chronicles his experiences teaching exceptional education at a high school. It was a finalist for the Robert J. Pickering Award for Playwriting Excellence in 2002. He has written another play, "Second Period at the Center," which is a wonderfully warm and funny look back at his year at teaching at what used to be called an adult Mental Retardation Center.

In 1975 Bill had the privilege of graduating from Florida State University, in Tallassee, Fl. with a degree in Early Childhood Education, which was followed later with certification in Exceptional Education.

His latest book, "Lessons Learned the Hard Way: 16 Things Every Teacher Should Know" is an entertaining textbook on how to create success in all children, but especially for those struggling in school and coming from stressed backgrounds. It should be read by anyone concerned with our children's future.
